Spurs may have edge

It is far too early to be talking a Jose Mourinho revolution, but that is exactly what has tongues wagging as Tottenham Hotspur share top place in the English Premier League going into the weekend’s fixture list.Spurs and defending champions Liverpool both have 20 points from their opening nine matches but while the Reds are away at Brighton tomorrow in what is usually a routine assignment, Spurs face a real examination in the London derby away against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. It is an intriguing match between Mourinho and former star midfielder Frank Lampard, who “The Special One” has repeatedly said was among the best players to ever play for him.Lampard obviously paid attention on the training ground and in the dressing room while still Chelsea’s star midfielder. Last season, as the Blues’ rookie coach, he beat Mourinho’s Spurs both home and away, but this campaign Mourinho has edged his side past Chelsea in the League Cup.Spurs have won their last four Premier League games, including the 2-0 win over Manchester City last weekend that has prompted premature talk of a Mourinho miracle this season.Chelsea have six wins on the trot, three of them in the league and the other three in the UEFA Champions League. This will be tough one to call for TAB soccer punters, but maybe a little magic from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min might keep Spurs chugging ahead.
